Love your clients.  It’s a simple concept and one that is highly rewarding.  Because when you love your clients, they will love you back.

How will they love you back?  In the form of referrals, positive reviews, additional business…I love what Walt Disney said about creating an experience for visitors:

“Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” ~Walt Disney

…and we all love Disney!!

So how do you do it?  How do you truly LOVE your clients?  In honor of Valentine’s Day, let’s cover 5 Ways to Make your Client’s Fall in Love with You:

#1  Listen to your Clients     This should come as no surprise–you should only talk 20% of the time during a consultation and your client should talk 80% of the time.  But listening goes beyond the consultation, it bleeds into how quickly you respond to emails (within 24 biz hours is my rule), how fast you respond to comments on your social media platforms (Yes!  You should respond, even if it’s just giving a “thumbs up” icon to say you liked the comment he/she left), to surveying your clients AFTER the wedding to make sure everything met expectations and get feedback on what you can do better.

#2  Build Trust     NEWS FLASH:  They are not going to hire you in the first place if they don’t trust you.  So keep that trust on-going with check-ins between consultations and timely updates if something changes that effects their wedding, both good and bad.

#3  Be Transparent     This is a buzz word that is not going away.  But what does it really, I mean really mean?  Telling them what you had for dinner last night is not being transparent.  Being upfront and honest about things involving their wedding, is.  No hidden fees, no hidden rules and policies…everything is laid out in front of them from the get-go.  Think of it like this:  What you see is what you get.

#4  Follow Up, Follow Through     And deliver on what you promised.  Plain and simple:  do what you said you were going to do, do it right the first time and clients will LOVE you.  Also, commit to follow up!  I hear from too many wedding pros that they simply just don’t follow up.  You are LOOSING business simply by not having a system for following-up.

#5  Always say THANK YOU!!!     A sincere, heart-felt sign of appreciation goes a long way.  When is the last time the check-out person at Target said thank you to you?  It’s so simple and it’s so over-looked today.  Say THANK YOU and mean it.
